Katherine
T. Faber, President
Katherine T. Faber is Walter P. Murphy Professor of Materials
Science and Engineering at Northwestern University, Evanston,
IL, where she also served
as Department Chair and Associate Dean for research and graduate studies
in the McCormick School of Engineering & Applied Science.
She received a B.S. in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University,
Alfred, NY; an M.S. in Ceramic Science from The Pennsylvania
State University,
University Park, PA, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University
of California, Berkeley, CA.
A Fellow and past vice president of ACerS, Faber is a member and past
chair of the Basic Science Division and past president of the Ceramic
Educational Council.

David Pye, President-Elect
L. David Pye is Dean and Professor of Glass Science, Emeritus, at New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Alfred,
NY, and
Visiting Professor at the Johns Hopkins University.
He received both his B.S. and Ph.D. in Ceramic Science and Engineering
from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. A Fellow of ACerS, Pye is a member and past chair of the Glass
and Optical Materials Division, and served as Chair of the Globalization
Task Force. |

Warren
W. Wolf, Past-President
Warren W. Wolf is retired from Owens Corning where he served as vice president
and chief scientist.
Wolf holds a B.S. in ceramic technology from Pennsylvania State University,
an M.B.A. from Xavier University and a Ph.D. in ceramic engineering from
The Ohio State University.
A Fellow and past vice president of ACerS, Wolf is a member of the Glass & Optical
Materials and Engineering Ceramics divisions and is a past president and
member of the National Institute of Ceramic Engineers.

Lora
Cooper Saiber, Treasurer
Lora Cooper Saiber is a general manager of Du-Co Ceramics, Saxonburg,
PA. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Cooper
Saiber is a past president and past treasurer of the American
Association
of Ceramic Component Manufacturers (AACCM). She holds membership
in the Engineering Ceramics Division. |

David W. Johnson Jr., Parliamentarian
David W. Johnson Jr. is retired from Agere Systems where he served as director of the applied
materials research department. He is currently an Adjunct Professor and Senior
Advisor at Stevens Institute of Technology and an editor of the Journal of The American
Ceramic Society.
He graduated from Pennsylvania State University, earning a B.S. in ceramic
technology in 1964 and a Ph.D. in ceramic science in 1968.
Johnson is an ACerS Fellow, a past chair and member of the Electronics
Division, a member of the Basic Science and Glass & Optical Materials
divisions and the National Institute of Ceramic Engineers. Johnson served
as president of ACerS in 1994-95 and has been the recipient of numerous
ACerS awards.

Scott
Steen,
Executive Director
Appointed in October 2006, Scott M. Steen serves as the ninth executive director of The American Ceramic Society since its formation in 1898. Steen began his association career in 1985 and has held executive level positions for more than 15 years, most recently as Chief Knowledge and Strategy Officer for the American Society of Association Executives. He was the founding editorial director of the Journal of Association Leadership and is a frequent author and speaker on association management-related topics. Steen earned a B.A. in Political Studies from Gordon College, Wenham, MA. He may be contacted directly

J. Bray, Director 2006-2009
Donald J. Bray is Business Director, New Technology,
for Morgan Carbon, Fostoria, OH. He holds a B.S. in Ceramic Engineering
and co-Masters in Metallurgy and Ceramic Engineering
from Iowa State
University. He is a member of the Refractory Ceramics,
Basic Science and Engineering Ceramics Divisions and the National
Institute of Ceramic
Engineers. An ACerS Fellow, Bray is a past chair of
the Engineering Ceramics Division, and a past member of the ACerS
President's Council
of Industrial Advisors. |

Richard
K. Brow, Director 2006-2009
Richard K. Brow is Curators' Professor of Ceramic Engineering
and Chair of the Materials Science & Engineering Department, University
of Missouri-Rolla. He holds a B.S. in Ceramic Engineering and
an M.S. in Glass Science from NYS College of Ceramics at Alfred
University, and a Ph.D. in Ceramic Science from Pennsylvania
State University. He is a member and past chair of the Glass & Optical
Materials Division (GOMD); past associate editor of the
Journal of The American Ceramic Society, presently serving on the ACerS Publications committee and
Panel of Fellows. An ACers fellow, Brow was awarded the Karl Schwartzwalder Professional
Achievement in Ceramic Engineering Award in 1993 and the
George W. Morey Award from the GOMD in 2004. |

Alexis G. Clare, Director 2005-2008
Alexis G. Clare is a Professor of Glass Science, New
York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
She earned a B.S. in Chemical Physics and
a Ph.D. in Physics from The University of Reading, U.K. An ACerS Fellow,
Clare is a recipient of the Karl Schwartzwalder Professional Achievement in Ceramic
Engineering Award. She is a member of the Glass & Optical Materials
Division and a member and past president of the National Institute of Ceramic
Engineers.

Robert
F. Cook, Director 2004-2007
Robert F. Cook is a Project Leader in the Ceramics Division at the
National Institute of Standards and Technology. He received a B.S.
in physics from Monash University in Australia and a Ph.D. in physics
from the University of New South Wales in Australia. An ACers Fellow, Cook is a member and past chair of the Basic Science Division.
He received the Richard M. Fulrath award in 1999. |

R. Hellmann, Director 2004-2007
John R. Hellmann Jr. is a professor of ceramic science and engineering and
associate head for undergraduate studies in the department of materials science
and engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. He earned a B.S. and
Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University, both in ceramic science. An ACers Fellow, Hellmann is a member of the Basic Science Division, Ceramic
Educational Council, and current President of the National Institute of Ceramic
Engineers and Secretary of Keramos National Professional Ceramic Engineering
Fraternity. |

J. Mecholsky, Director 2006-2009
John J. Mecholsky is a Professor and Associate Chair in the Department
of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Florida, Gainesville.
He received a B.C.E. in Civil Engineering, a master's in Structural
Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the Catholic University
of America in Washington, D.C. An ACerS Fellow, he is a member of
the Glass and Optical Materials and Basic Science Divisions. He was awarded
the Karl Schwartzwalder Professional Achievement in Ceramic Engineering
Award in 1984.

R. Pascucci, Director 2004-2007
Marina R. Pascucci is president of CeraNova Corp., Marlborough, MA.
She received a B.S. in Ceramic Science and a B.A. in Chemistry from
Alfred University and an M.S. in Ceramic Science and Ph.D. in Materials
Science from Case Western Reserve University. An ACerS Fellow, Pascucci
is a member of the Basic Science Division and National Institute of
Ceramic Engineers. |

G. Wicks, Director 2005-2008
George G. Wicks is a Consulting Scientist at the Savannah
River National Laboratory in Aiken, S.C. He
received a B.S. in Engineering Materials and an M.S.
in Metallurgy and Materials Science from Florida State University, an M.S. in Applied
Physics and Engineering from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in Engineering
Materials from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a member and past
chair of the Nuclear & Environmental Technology Division, past president
of the National Institute of Ceramic Engineers and a member of ACerS' Glass & Optical
Materials Division. He is a Fellow in both ACerS and NICE and is a recipient of the Arthur L. Frieberg Award and
the 2005 Joan Hodges Queneau Palladium Medal. |

Sheldon M. Wiederhorn,
Director 2005-2008
Sheldon M. Wiederhorn is a Senior NIST Fellow with the Material Science and
Engineering Laboratory of the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
His degrees are in chemical engineering, with a B.S. from Columbia University
School of Engineering and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois.
A Fellow and Distinguished Life Member of ACerS, Wiederhorn has received the Ross
Coffin Purdy and the John Jeppson awards. He is a member and past chair of
the Basic Science Division and an editor of the Journal of The American
Ceramic Society. |
