| WESTERVILLE, Ohio, August 1, 2005 — The American Ceramic Society
(ACerS), host for UNITECR 2005 — the 9th Biennial Worldwide Congress
on Refractories, today announces an exciting technical program for this
prestigious global event. The technical program consists of over 240 papers,
which were solicited from world leaders in a variety of refractories specialties.
This international event is vital for refractories manufacturers,
users, technologists, and scientists to exchange information
on the latest advances, applications, and successes in refractories. “This
year's technical program is broad-ranging and diverse
making it truly outstanding. We have solicited participation
from leading experts in all areas of the refractories industry,” said
Dr. Jeff Smith, UNITECR Technical Program Chairperson.
Highlights of the UNITECR 2005 Technical Program include:
- Steelmaking Refractories — featuring
numerous paper presentations by representatives from major
international steel
companies.
-
Castable Technology — focusing on the latest technical developments
in this critical and evolving domain of refractories presented
by industry experts and leaders.
- Worldwide Raw Materials Presentations and Discussion — exploring
global raw materials supply and demand, moderated by Charles E.
Semler of Semler Materials Services.
- Robert E. Moore Memorial Education Symposium — two sessions
devoted to sharing global perspectives on the status of Refractories
education around the world.
- Six Additional Special Symposia — covering wide-ranging aspects
of refractory technology and industrial applications.
UNITECR 2005 will be held November 8-11, 2005 in Orlando, Florida,
at the Rosen Centre Hotel. The associated exhibit will showcase
products and services used in the refractory industry. Suppliers
and users of all refractory-related products and services are urged
to attend.
For more than 16 years, UNITECR has been held biennially on
a rotational basis in each country of the founding members.
This organization has played an important role internationally
to foster the exchange of technical information concerning
refractories. The UNITECR founding members are The American
Ceramic Society (ACerS), the German Refractory Association
(GRA), the Association Latinoamericana de Fabricantes de Refractarios
(ALAFAR), and The Technical Association of Refractories, Japan
(TARJ).
