Object Name Vase
Description Urn-shaped vase with a high shoulder. Shoulder curves in to a concave neck. Neck flares out to a plain rim. Base of neck is decorated with a porcelain paste cameo entitled "Covered Wagon". Covered wagon lead by oxen, followed by dog, a horse carrying two riders. Figures are all headed for a tree and rolling hills. W.B.Stephen on back side under a few rolling hills. Initials stand for Walter B. Stephen. Stephen founded and made pottery at the Pisgah Forest Pottery. Sides gradually taper in from shoulder and flare out to a plain base. Sides have a crystalline glaze. Inside vase is glazed in pink.
